If you missed the June 2013 public meetings on the future of Waterfront Park, you have more opportunities in the weeks ahead.  The City of Bainbridge Island held two public meetings at the Waterfront Park Community Center to solicit citizen input on the park and city dock in Winslow.   A subsequent on-line poll asked for additional comments from citizens.

The results of these meetings and comments from the poll were given to a design team contracted by the city to develop the materials into potential plans for the future of the park.  Those designs are now ready for public review.  There will be two types of meetings for this review process.

Studios where the public can drop in to comment, offer ideas, and interact with the designers will be held on the following dates:

Sunday, Jan. 12       1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.      Waterfront  Comm. Center
Monday, Jan. 13       4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.      City Hall
Tuesday, Jan. 14     4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.      City Hall
Wed., Jan 15           10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.    City Hall

Workshops in the evening will feature exercises to refine the design proposal, and will be held on

Monday, January 13        7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Tuesday, January 14       7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

There will also be a work session by the design team for City Council on Wednesday, January 15 at 5:00 p.m.

This is an important opportunity to share your ideas and help evaluate the potential designs for this park in the heart of Winslow.   Did the design teams successfully incorporate the ideas you shared at the June meetings?  Have you thought of other important concepts that should be considered for the park?  How do the proposed designs meet your expectations for this city treasure?

That’s what these workshops and studios are for, so please come and share your insights.   The four studios and the two workshops will be similar, so you can choose to attend those most convenient for your schedule.
